Cynthia Hurd Scholarship

David Aylor Law Offices wants to congratulate Jayda Green for receiving our Cynthia Graham Hurd Scholarship of $5,000!

Jayda is currently attending North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, NC with a major in Kinesiology and an interest in exercise science. She graduated high school with an Associates in Arts degree from Trident Technical College in Charleston, SC. We admire her academic success, entrepreneurial spirit and heart to help others in her school and those close to her.

We had many people reach out on her behalf:

“I would like to nominate Jayda Green for this scholarship. A very soft spoken, goal driven student who has proven herself to rise above any odds. Jayda grew up in a single parent household in the City of Charleston’s Eastside neighborhood. Recently, she graduated high school with her Associates in Arts Degree. She’s excelled in so many ways it’s unbelievable. She’s phenomenal student with an entrepreneurial heart and a goal driven spirit. Jayda is currently attending North Carolina A&T majoring in Kinesiology all while being an entrepreneur.”

“I would like to nominate my daughter Jayda. A very humble individual who doesn’t mind helping anyone in anyway she can. Jayda has made our family proud. She’s a recent high school graduate of Early College High School / RB Stall and Trident Tech. She graduated with her high school diploma and her Associates in Arts from Trident. While completing her studies, she’s been inducted into the National Honor Society, a Deans list recipient at Trident, and an entrepreneur. Being raised in a single parent home wasn’t always easy, I as mom-set the bar high for excellence and I can say she’s met and exceeded my expectations. She is currently a freshman (sophomore) at North Carolina A&T. Her major is Kinesiology with her main focus being exercise science. She’s chosen this career path because of her heart and desire to help others.”

“Jayda Green is a promising young lady of our community. She showcases her devotion to her school, community, family, and friends. She is always willing to make the world a better and brighter place by showcasing her knowledge and sharing it with others. Jayda has worked hard all of her life and if given the opportunity to grow and develop, she can achieve anything she sets her mind to.”

The Cynthia Graham Hurd scholarship is named in honor of the Charleston community leader who served South Carolina’s library system for most of her life. She was also a board member of the Charleston County Housing Authority and Septima P. Clark Corporation. She was a victim of the 2015 Charleston church shooting and was honored through a resolution by the South Carolina General Assembly for her life’s work. Cynthia embodied what it means to help her community, and David Aylor Law Offices wishes to recognize students who are achieving academic excellence and desiring to share their brightness with the world.

We’d like to use this opportunity to thank Jayda for her entry and wish her all the best in pursuing her degree!
