The Gary Stephens Scholarship is one close to David’s heart. Gary was a close friend to David, as well as a mentor, and most importantly, David’s son’s grandfather. Gary was a hard-working, loyal man who left a lasting impression on those who knew him. Gary tragically died in a car accident in 2012, leaving fond memories in the hearts and minds of all who knew him.
The KJ Williams Scholarship is named after a model law clerk. Anyone entering the legal profession should aspire to be like KJ Williams. KJ was an exemplary law student who participated in a number of student organizations at the Charleston College of Law. He later became a diligent law clerk at the David Aylor Law Offices, who was held in high esteem by everyone who worked with him. KJ tragically lost a hard-fought battle with Leukemia, but his memory will live on through this scholarship.
The Nick Becker Scholarship is named after veteran Nick Becker who played an instrumental role in building the David Aylor Law Offices into the flourishing practice it is today. Nick was an outstanding law clerk who left a lasting impression on all who worked with him. Many veterans suffer from PTSD after entering civilian life, and Nick was no exception. On March 31, 2017, Benjamin Nickolas “Nick” Becker, 36, a U.S. Army combat veteran, Sand Sharks Veterans club member, USCB student, and everyone’s favorite law clerk, made the tragic decision to take his own life. Our wish is to honor his memory by lending a helping hand to a military member or veteran whose hope is to better their future by entering law school.
